Oklahoma!

We are so fortunate to live in a community that loves musical theater. Our high school puts on top notch productions every spring and it's something we look forward to every year. In 2008, it was The Music Man.   They needed some younger children for a few parts in the play and Sam and Savannah were asked to participate.  They were in 5th and 6th grade at the time and have been hooked ever since.

It was fun to watch Sam in Oklahoma! this year.  I was in this play in Utah when I was 21 so it's long been a favorite of mine.  We've got a fabulous director here in our small town who steps up and does this every year.  I am always so impressed by the quality of her productions and at the amount of musical talent we have in our little high school.

Sam has had rehearsals four nights a week for 7-8 weeks, sometimes up to 4 hours each night.  His character, Cowboy Sam, did some pretty impressive rope tricks during the "Kansas City" number.  He also showed off some fancy dance moves, kicking up his heels with the best of them.  Our family attended Friday night and LOVED it!  Sterling and Sadie have been belting out the songs ever since.  Savannah and I went back on Saturday and enjoyed it every bit as much as the night before.

While it's bittersweet to have it end, it was a great experience for Sam and he and Savannah are looking forward to next year!

(I'm not sure who took the original photos.  Photography was not allowed in the theater, but there was a big display in the hallway with pictures from the show.  These are pictures of those pictures.  Whatever works!)

I love that you took pictures of the pictures. We took a picture of the picture of us boarding our cruise ship. I don't think we were supposed to but, oops! we did.

I love musical theater, too. It looks like you had a great time. That was kind of a mother's day present, too.
