Lanterns For Japan

My friend, Jessica, woke up one morning with an idea to raise money for the Japanese earthquake survivors.  She "sold" luminaries (really just collected donations) and then set up 799 luminaries in the image of the Japanese flag on the steps of one of the buildings on campus.  It ended up being a huge project - Savannah and I helped fold the bags one evening for 2 hours and barely made a dent in how much work was left to do.  Jessica's original lighting date was rained out so she held it this past Friday.  We stopped by to see the final display.  This picture doesn't even do it justice.  It was so pretty with all the candles flickering in the bags.  The flag was huge.  It was very impressive and I hope it was worth all the time she put into it.  Way to go, Jessica!
