Too Many Ducks

I know, I know. It's been forever. Life is good, it really is. I just haven't taken time to document the good stuff. But tonight I realized that there have been several things lately that have made me laugh or smile and I need to share! This one is definitely good for a laugh. I've watched it four times so far and I crack up every time!

Gotta love it! :)

What Is That Thing?

Well, I did it! I managed to blog every day in February. I will admit there were many days where I just wanted to forget the whole thing, but it was good for me to come up with something happy every day. I'm glad I did it and I'm glad I have a record of all the little things I normally skip over. I'd like to get in the habit of posting more than before -- but not every day. :)

So for today, I thought I'd post something completely random and a little bit freaky. I found this in the far reaches of my freezer:

What on earth? Any guesses?

My first thought was that one of my boys was trying to preserve some poor creature's skull. In my freezer. With the food. Ew. Then I thought it was an extremely old, forgotten snowball that someone intended to save so they could pull it out in July. As in last July. Which led to the thought that I really need to clean out my freezer more often.

Still unsure what I was looking at, I naturally put it back in the freezer. When I found it again a couple weeks later, my kids were home so I asked if they knew anything about it. Spencer was the one who solved the mystery of the frozen skull snowball.

Dry ice.

Spencer received a shipment of frozen mice for his snake that were packed in dry ice. Being the scientist that he is, he proceeded to conduct all sorts of cool experiments. When he was done, he had a few little chunks of dry ice left so he put them in some water and left them outside for a while. When he came back, the water around the dry ice was starting to freeze. He eventually put the remains in the freezer and forgot about it.

Fast forward a few months... And that is how to make a skull snowball. :)

{Happy Leap Day, by the way.}

Harvest Fun

I harvested our butternut squash today. Seeing them sitting on the counter, I just couldn't resist...

Do you recognize Jimmy from VeggieTales?  I just quickly penciled him in, but I think he's so cute! Of course, my kids think I'm totally insane awesome!

Love it! :)

Triathl On

I was reminiscing about the family triathlon the extended Stowell family participated in last summer. It was great motivation for me to get in shape and most everyone enjoyed it. I don't know that there are plans to have another, but just for fun, I came up with the perfect t-shirt design...

Some people don't really get it. Maybe it's my weird sense of humor, but I love it and might have one made just for me...triathlon or not. :)

Reclaim Your Life: Google Dial-Up Mode

This "new" technology from Google is just what is needed around here. Love it!

Good one, Google!

Happy April Fools Day. :)

Looking For A Mate

Finally, a solution to those single socks --

This is now hanging in my laundry room. :)

Trying to be funny, Spencer hung a picture of Savannah from one of the clips... (Okay, it was funny.)

Pi for Breakfast

Happy Pi Day!!
3.14

Today isn't just any Pi day. This is a once-in-a-century Pi day.

Today is...
3.1415

And if you are a complete nerd (like me!), then you celebrated at exactly 9:26:53 which makes it...
3.141592653

If you haven't celebrated yet, there's still time. Nothing wrong with eating pie at 9:26 p.m. In fact, I think we will. :)

Our breakfast pie.
I was planning to make a pie from scratch until I saw this. Oh. Yum.

Good Fortune

Not only did I get Pad See Ew, one of my favorite Thai dishes, for lunch today, but I got a pretty good fortune to go with it!

It's not quite as good as my favorite fortune here, but I'll take it! :)

Mr. Bean

Are you familiar with Mr. Bean? Maybe I have a weird sense of humor, but he cracks me up! I first learned of him in Scotland and then Jeff and I used to watch old episodes on a PBS station when we were first married. This is apparently the first episode of the original show and it's pretty good! It's long -- especially for this blog where I try to keep things short and sweet -- but if you have a half hour, Mr. Bean is always good for a laugh. We sure get a kick out of him! :)

Watch Your Step

We have so many legos in our house that we moved all four boys into one bedroom so we could have a "lego room." It has definitely helped to keep the legos in one place, but I'm warning you - walk through that room at your own risk! :)

This t-shirt says it all for lego lovers:

Been there, done that!

Ending the Season With Style

As usual, BYU had a great fourth quarter and convincingly beat SDSU in the Poinsettia Bowl tonight. Most of the points were scored by the defense - there were a LOT of turnovers - but we'll take them however they come!

Oh, and today is twelve-twenty twenty-twelve (12-20-2012). Say that five times fast. :)

Some friends invited us over for dinner. I didn't have to cook!

And Christmas Break starts now.

Yes, it's been a great day!

12-12-12

Screen shot of my iPod at 12:12 on 12/12/12.
So I guess this is the last time in my life when the calendar will have three two-digit numbers repeating three times.

I wish I could say today was amazing and that we celebrated 12 different ways.

It wasn't and we didn't.

It was a pretty typical day with plenty going on after school and people to shuttle here and there. But we all acknowledged it and a few of us made sure to notice when the clock turned 12:12 just to say we did.

I did.

It made me happy.

I'm kind of a nerd that way. :)
